President’s Message

This weekend sees the “in-form” teams in State Division 1 battle it out for top spot. 1st placed Mandurah City play 4th placed Western Knights, and we welcome Joondalup United to Hartfield Park, in a game that sees 2nd play 3rd. Our boys will be looking to return to winning ways after the defeat last week saw their record breaking run of seven victories come to an end. To help our team today, lets show them the famous “Forrie” roar.

This year is a very exciting one for Forrestfield United, both on and off the field. On the field, we have seen the first team return to State Division 1, and after a shaky start, they are now challenging for the top spot. But off the field, big things are about to happen. Club representatives met Kalamunda Shire architects last week to finalise plans for the new stadium. Last minute tweaks to the design has seen the seating capacity of the new grandstand increase from 280 to 413, and with the inclusion of seats (instead of concrete steps) the end result should be something we will all be proud of. The project is due to start in November, and will be completed before the start of next season. The new artists impression will be posted on our website when they have been completed, so be sure to visit www.fusc.org.au and keep up to date with this exciting project.

The grandstand is the biggest project undertaken by the club, and wouldn’t be possible without the support and funding from Kalamunda Shire. The importance they place on a large infrastructure project like this, is in recognition of the role the Club plays in the local community. We are the largest sporting club in the area, and we are growing all the time.

The grandstand project is the most visible part of a wider effort to prepare the club for entry into the “National Premier Leagues”. At the outset, the Club planned to implement those changes over the next couple of seasons, but with the performance of the First Team this season so far, we have decided to get everything in place before the start of next season, just in case!! You will all be able to see the progress of the grandstand, the increased number of pitches, and the upgrade of the changing rooms, but what you won’t see is the hard work and effort going on in the background, by the many volunteers, to get the Clubs operations to conform to NPL standards. We are always looking for extra volunteers to help out, so if you have a little time and want to help the club grow to the next level, please call Dana Banjac on 0447 052 833 or email dana.banjac@gmail.com to see how you can help. We are particularly interested in people with legal expertise, PR and Marketing knowledge and someone with connections to a local printing company.

Finally, I want to touch on the most important aspect of the Club. The kids. The reason we, at Forrestfield United exist, is to provide a place for the kids in the local community to come and enjoy the most popular sport on the planet. It’s called “The World Game” for a reason. We aim to provide a safe and fun environment to enjoy learning and playing the game. For the kids that develop a passion for the game, we aim to provide a pathway to the highest levels by providing the best coaching by the best qualified coaches in Perth. We are already planning a busy summer of skills clinics and summer competitions, keep an eye out for information in your schools, social media and on our website, for further information.
