A great game of football between the top two in Div 1. I am biased of course, but FUSC had the upper hand for a majority of the first half. The WK made a few great saves and FUSC were unlucky to concede from a free kick just outside of the box a minute before half time.

In the absence of Head Coach Rod Banjac today, Terry and his team of coaches held the fort as true professionals, and after an inspirng half time team talk, FUSC came out and equalised in the first minute of the second half. Mark Barnett rifled home into the top righthand corner after a clever free kick.

A hard fought second half ensued, again FUSC having the upper hand. Two minutes from time, FUSC could have taken all 3 points when Liam Merrigan ran onto a perfectly weighted pass and skillfully rounded the goal keeper, only to see his shot go narrowly wide.

At the end of the day, I think WK were happier to take the draw. The result sees FUSC slip into 3rd place in the ladder, but still 3 points from top spot, with that vital game in hand.

Again, as usual, the Forrie Army were in full voice, from my point of view, it felt like a home game!! Well done.

Western Knights vs Forrestfield United
Date: Saturday 29th July 2017
Venue: Nash Field
U18 KO 11am
Dev KO 1pm
First Team KO 3pm

One of the most exciting games of the season so far. Second place Forrestfield United take on top of the table, and recent cup winners, Western Knights. FUSC are 3 points behind with a game in hand, so a victory will see us climb to first place on goal difference.

All very exciting, but at the end of the day, it’s only a game. Unfortunately the days events will begin with a minutes silence as a mark of respect for the tragic loss of one of our own this week.
