FUSC to take on Armadale in Night Series Derby

Forrestfield United first competitive game in the NPLWA will take place in the pre-season Night Series on January 25th. The draw was made at Football West earlier this week and we have been drawn against Armadale in a local derby in the first round.

It is a knock-out competition, so a win will take FUSC into the quarter finals, and Head Coach Rod Banjac said they are looking forward to it. “A special occasion, our first competitive game in the NPL WA and the whole club is looking forward to it with great anticipation,” he said. “One good thing about the derby against Armadale is it will re-kindle the friendly rivalry between us, it will be a fantastic match, where two regional clubs will fight it out for dominance of the Eastern corridor.”

Banjac said the club have worked extremely hard to prepare for the new season, and the challenge NPLWA brings. “We’ve spent a lot of time planning for the year ahead while looking for the right type of players to add depth to our talented young squad, and we pleased to say that we’ve achieved that,” he said. “And although we are very much aware of the magnitude of task in front of us there is one thing we will never, ever do, and that is to compromise quality of Football for the sake of winning games.  We have a strict policy in place where Football must be of a high standard and if we continue to deliver in that department results will follow.”

The Coach was happy the way the players returned from the off-season, and he said the players returned in good shape and it’s all about getting game time and fitness back into the legs. “Our pre-season is into the third week now and right on schedule to deal with the challenges associated with highest state level of competition come February 16 – Round one,” he explained. “The squad is committed, they are blending well, and already showing signs of tremendous energy and a desire to compete at the highest level. But what stands out above all is the respect, for one self, the team, the club and the region they represent.”
