Big recognition for Forrie youngsters

There must something about being born on 11 July 2006!

Two Forrie youngsters, Nicolas Echeverria and Sophia Korlat, both born on the 11th of July, have been selected for the School Sports WA U12s State Teams to represent WA at the National Football Championships in Sydney in September.

Nicolas is very excited to have the opportunity to represent Western Australia in the U12s boy’s state team. After six weeks of trails he was selected for the squad and is now enjoying weekly training, as he gets to know his teammates. Nicolas is looking forward to traveling to Sydney and doing what he loves, playing soccer. Nico said, “I can’t wait to go to Sydney and play soccer against the other states. I think it will be a challenge, but I am looking forward to it.”

For Sophia, this will be her second time representing the state, as she already represented WA last year at the Pacific Games Championships in Adelaide. This year, she is especially excited at having been chosen to be one of the team captains. Sophia, who usually plays on one of the FUSC boy’s teams, is looking forward to playing with girls for a change and experiencing the intensity of playing against the likes of NSW and Victoria. “Last year was a great experience, being away with the team for a week, training and playing, and also meeting all the girls and making friends. It was awesome. It will be very challenging taking on other teams, but we have a very good team this year and all the girls are very excited. I am really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get to Sydney”.
