Amateur Division 1 Half Season Review
July 18, 2019
With us at the half way point in most leagues we’ll try our best to update on the progress of all teams around the club. We start with our Division 1 Amateurs. Having been promoted last season it was a big step up however so far we have really held our own in Div 1. We caught up with First Team Manager Luke Wood on the progress this season and some expectations for the rest of the season.
“First Team; At the half way point of the season, we are sitting in 7th spot with 16 points and a +8 goal difference. We still have a game in hand which could move us to within one win of the top four. I have been pleased with the guys effort so far. We have only lost three games, two of which were by one goal. Having been promoted last year, everyone has stepped up to the next level and I believe we have challenged every team we have played. We are hoping for a top four finish this year and will be looking to keep the team together to go for promotion next year.”
“Ressies; The reserves are currently sitting in 6th position with 21 points and a +7 goal difference. We also still have a game in hand which if we win would take us to fourth spot and only one win away from top of the league. Mas has done a terrific job balancing giving everyone game time and keeping the core group of players together, who have played in division 4, 3, 2 and now 1. A top four finish is definitely achievable and will be what we will be aiming for. Both teams are in strong positions with minimal injuries and a hunger to win every game. I look forward to see what the second half of the season holds.”
