Forrestfield United v Joondalup United – Match Preview
July 9, 2016
All roads lead to Hartfield Park on Saturday in the top of the table clash in week 13 of the All Flags State League Division One, when Forrestfield United will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat at Canning when they take on Joondalup United.
Coach Rod Banjac said they have worked hard at training this week, and are looking forward to taking on Joondalup. “Terry, myself and rest of the coaching staff have worked hard with the boys over the last week, and are confident that we polished the imperfections of last Saturday,” said.
“Saturday will be the third time this year where we have clashed with Joondalup, and first two occasions they managed to edge us out by the narrowest of margins. They beat us in the Grand Final of the Night Series Cup in a penalty shoot-out and in the league by an odd goal, where we played with 9 men from the 76th minute. Both sides play fantastic football and there is no doubt that everyone will get their monies worth on Saturday.”.
Defender Mark Barnett said they will be looking to put last week’s defeat right on Saturday. “After winning a large number of games in a row, a loss can, at times be of use to teams just to keep you on your toes and to look ahead which is exactly what we will be doing this week.,” he said.
“This is without a doubt the biggest game of the season for us, and a chance to take points off each other in a congested top three could prove costly come the end of the season. The boys have completely forgotten about the loss at Canning, and we are very focused on our tasks ahead for this week’s blockbuster. Forrestfield are at full strength for the game.
Joondalup Callum Stocks said the whole club is looking forward to Saturday’s game, and it should be a great game. “We all can’t wait for the game against Forrestfield, and we have a real rivalry with them going back to Division Two a couple of seasons ago,” he explained.
“In our opinion they are the best team we’ve played this season, so it will be a tough test for us at their place.” In team news Joe stocker and Greg Pellow are out injured, while Joel Ledesham is overseas.
