Forrestfield United’s U10’s Orange Metro team traveled to Fremantle for an early kick off in their second league game of the season. The team warmed up in the light drizzle and some of those tired eyes began to wake up and thankfully the weather brightened up too!
The game set off at a fast pace and the team was put under a lot of pressure with wave after wave of Fremantle attacks. A lot of focus had been put on defense in training this week and it was fantastic to see every player putting this into practice during the game.
Forrestfield began to grow in confidence and started to pass the ball around nicely. There were combinations of great passing and skillful dribbling from the midfield and strikers and it was Forrestfield’s turn to apply the pressure on the opposition.
Finally the pressure paid off and the parents and team were able to cheer a great individual run and finish from our striker to score the first goal of our season. Shortly after this a great defensive tackle and beautiful through ball from the same player led to another Forrestfield goal.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with both teams applying pressure on one another and taking it in turns to dominate parts of the game. One of our midfield maestros spotted an opportunity just inside the box and threaded a lovely shot into the back of the net to more cheers from the delighted parents and teammates.
The two sides continued to be very evenly matched throughout the game and our keeper had to pull off some great saves.
Goals were scored and goals were conceded and it was great to see the effort, enthusiasm and enjoyment from every player.
The team is gelling together nicely, their skills are improving all the time and we can’t wait for our next match.
