Match Report – Women’s Division 2 12th May 2019

Last Sunday saw the FUSCW Division 2 team faced off against Manning Untied after another emotional week for the team having attended the funeral service for Tadiwa, may she rest in peace!

This week the squad was reduced in numbers due to injuries and family engagements (Mother’s Day, etc) providing an opportunity for the new and returning players in the squad to get into the game and give us a glimpse of their skills on the park.

During the pre-game warm up, the team was focused and determined to follow-up this week with another win after coming off a hard-fought win last week.

The first half saw the ladies sitting deep to absorb anything Manning United where able to try and get at them with. This meet a rock-solid wall of defence which inevitably resulted in FUSCW maintaining a large percentage of the possession for the half resulting in many foray’s forward in a more attacking and deceive move into Manning’s half of the park with many efforts on goal going astray.

After half time, the ladies re-grouped and began their move on Manning and the goals began to flow.

Several goals came from moving the ball out wide and making the blistering passes back into the box for the centre forwards to collect and finish into the back of the net.

Several opportunities which went begging in the first half where now making their way into the back of the net.

A fantastic result for the team as they now regain focus on the game and their goals for the season.

Thank you to all the supporters with a special to mention to the “Mum’s” who came down to watch on their special day with a 9 – 1 win going to the team.

The FUSCW Division 2 women’s next League game is against Port Kennedy on 26th May at Koorana Reserve and should prove to be an exciting match.
